Pritam, a student of Narendrapur Ramakrishna Mission from Sandeshkhali in North 24 Parganas, aspires to pursue a career in the Indian Police Service (IPS) by cracking the UPSC exams.

Pritam’s journey to this academic success has been marked by personal tragedy. His father, Pradeep Mondal, was allegedly murdered by Sheikh Shahjahan and his associates in 2019. Following this tragic incident, Pritam, along with his mother and younger brother, relocated from Sandeshkhali in 2021 in search of a secure future.

Pradeep, Pritam’s father, was a local shop owner who prioritized education for his sons by enrolling them in reputable good schools. However, the family faced significant economic and emotional challenges after Pradeep’s alleged murder by Shahjahan and his men. Since the death of his father, Pratim and his family have been going through financial trouble, their residence was attacked and their shops looted in 2021. Due to the continued threat posed by the accused, the family is unable to return to Sandeshkhali permanently.

Reflecting on Pritam’s achievement, his mother Padma Mandal expressed pride and regret in equal measure. She shared that Pritam’s success was a fulfilment of his father’s aspirations for his sons. “Pritam’s father always wished for our sons to achieve great things. He would have been overjoyed by Pritam’s excellent performance today,” remarked Padma.

Since childhood, Pritam harboured a strong desire to become an IPS officer and has set his sights on relocating to Delhi to prepare for the UPSC examinations. Despite the hardships faced by the family, Pritam’s determination remains unshaken. He is accompanied by his younger brother, Anubhav, who is currently pursuing his studies in class 12.
