In a tragic incident of Reasi Terror Attack, three foreign terrorists armed with US-made M4 rifles attacked a bus carrying Hindu pilgrims in Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi district. The assault, which occurred on the day Prime Minister Narendra Modi was sworn in for his third consecutive term, resulted in nine deaths and injuries to 33 others.
Survivors of Reasi Terror Attack recounted their harrowing experience, detailing how they pretended to be dead while terrorists continued firing even after their bus fell into a deep gorge. The bus was in route from Shiv Khori to Vaishno Devi when it was ambushed, leading to a relentless barrage of gunfire from multiple directions. One survivor recalled the attack lasting around 20 minutes, with bullets raining down on the bus and continuing even after it fell into a ditch.
Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha announced an ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh for the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 for the injured. Security forces, including the Army, police, and CRPF, have launched extensive operations to locate the terrorists, believed to be hiding in the dense forests and deep gorges of Rajouri and Reasi districts. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is also on the scene to evaluate the situation.
The Pakistan-backed group The Resistance Front (TRF), an offshoot of Lashkar-e-Taiba, claimed responsibility for the attack, warning of more such assaults on tourists and non-locals. This incident marks a significant escalation in violence in the region, prompting heightened security measures.
