Apple launched the sixth generation iPad mini in September 2021.
Mark Gurman from Bloomberg (mentioned by @appltrack) has said that the new iPad Mini might be released at the earliest by the end of this year. He thinks that this smallest tablet will have a quicker chip, but there won’t be many other big changes. The new model might take the place of the iPad Mini 2021 that’s available now.
Last week, Apple, the big tech company from Cupertino, showed off their new iPad Pro and iPad Air models at an event called ‘Let Loose’. This time, they didn’t bring out a new version of the iPad Mini. Instead, they introduced a new Apple Pencil Pro and an updated Magic Keyboard. Mark Gurman from Bloomberg thinks that this might mean Apple is planning to reveal a new iPad Mini at the end of the year. The last iPad Mini, which was the sixth one, came out at the end of 2021.
The iPad Mini, a popular product from Apple, hasn’t seen any updates or new versions since September 2021, according to a review. This device operates using an A15 Bionic processor, which is a powerful chip designed by Apple. If you’re interested in buying the Wi-Fi version of this iPad Mini with a storage capacity of 256GB, it would cost you Rs. 64,900.
There are rumors circulating about the upcoming seventh-generation iPad Mini. It’s speculated that this new model will be equipped with an even more powerful A16 chip. In addition to this, it’s believed that the display screen of the new iPad Mini might be slightly larger compared to the current model. This means that users could potentially enjoy a bigger viewing area on their device. However, these are just rumors and we’ll have to wait for official announcements from Apple to confirm these details.
The new model might fix the “jelly scrolling” issue that some people have noticed on the current models. A site called MacRumors suggests that the device could have an A17 Pro or A17 chip. It might also support Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3, which would make its connection better. The report guesses that the device might have a better camera and come in new colours.
Despite the potential upgrades, the new device might not have a 120Hz screen or an OLED panel like the new iPad Pro. It’s expected that the iPad Mini will have OLED versions in 2026. Also, it’s reported that the company is developing a device with a 7 to 8-inch screen that could replace the current 8.3-inch iPad Mini in 2027. For now, the iPad Mini that’s available has an 8.3-inch IPS screen with a maximum brightness of 500 nits.
Last week, at an event called ‘Lets Loose’, Apple introduced new models of the iPad Air and iPad Pro. They also showed off the new Apple Pencil Pro and Magic Keyboard. The iPad Air is now available with a 10.9-inch or 13-inch display. These displays use Liquid Retina (which is a type of LCD screen) and the device is powered by an eight-core M2 chip. The iPad Pro has a ‘Tandem OLED’ screen and comes in 11-inch and 13-inch display sizes. It uses Apple’s M4 chip and can have up to 2TB of storage. All these new models use iPadOS 17.
The starting price for the 2024 iPad Pro in India is Rs. 99,900. This is for the basic model that has an 11-inch screen. The 2024 iPad Air has a lower starting price of Rs. 59,900 for its basic 11-inch model. The Apple Pencil Pro costs Rs. 11,900. The new Magic Keyboard is a bit more expensive, with prices starting at Rs. 29,900.
