The Israel Strikes bombed a displacement camp in northern Rafah, killing at least 35 Palestinians, the Gaza Health Ministry says.
This attack on the refugee camp comes after Hamas attacked Tel Aviv. Eyewitnesses and survivors recalled that the people including babies were burnt or buried alive. Israel’s army continues to pound the southern city of Rafah. Videos from the scene in the Tal al-Sultan area on Sunday night showed a large explosion and intense fires burning.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said it had killed two “senior Hamas terrorists” and that it was “investigating the circumstances of the deaths of civilians in the area”.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called it a “tragedy”.
The Hamas Strikes again
Recently, Al-Qassam, the military wing of Hamas launched a barrage of missiles and rockets on Tel-Aviv, the Capital of Israel.
This attack is the first direct attack by Hamas after the heinous October 7 attack that spurred unrest and war in the Region after years of apparent peace. Rocket sirens blared across central Israel, including in Tel Aviv, on Sunday, as Hamas claimed to have launched a barrage of rockets from Gaza, news agency Reuters reported. At least eight rockets were launched by Hamas from the Rafah area in southern Gaza and several were intercepted by Israeli military, a BBC report said.
The Israeli Military alerted the citizens with the sirens leaving many of them panicked and rushing for bunkers and shelters. Israeli emergency medical services said they had received no reports of casualties.
The reignition of conflicts and tensions
The Middle-Eastern Asia has been a hot center of conflicts for approximately a century now with the history dating back to many wars between Jews and Palestinian Arabs for the land of Palestine which is claimed by both of them. The conflicts have resulted in the creation of Israel and major wars could not settle the matter. It kept the region divided as the Arab nations refused to accept the existence of Israel. The Palestinian resistance led to the formation of militant groups like Hamas and PLO.
The Palestinian reside in the Gaza strip and there is continuous tension in the area with the world demanding a two state solution to end the conflict for good. As of now, the tensions brewing between the two communities have been escalated by the attack of Hamas on October 7th.The attacks began early on 7 October with a barrage of at least 3,000 rockets launched against Israel and vehicle-transported and powered paraglider incursions into Israel. Hamas fighters breached the Gaza–Israel barrier, attacking military bases and massacring civilians in 21 communities, including Be’eri, Kfar Aza, Nir Oz, NetivHaasara, and Alumim.
364 civilians were killed and many more wounded while attending the Nova music festival. In total the attackers killed 1,139 people,695 Israeli civilians (including 38 children),71 foreign nationals, and 373 members of the security forces. About 250 Israeli civilians and soldiers were taken as hostages to the Gaza Strip, including 30 children, with the stated goal to force Israel to exchange them for imprisoned Palestinian, including women and children. Many cases of rape and sexual assault reportedly occurred, but Hamas officials denied the involvement of their fighters.
This Israel attack left the world divided as many countries in the West and East criticizing Hamas while many Nations hailed this Act as an act of Resistance.
In retaliation to the gruesome acts, Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu pledged to “finish Hamas” ,exact revenge and bring back the hostages. Israel began a very brutal war against Gaza killing thousands of people. Rafah, the southern Part of Gaza was the last refuge for the Gazans but Israel Strikes it as they believe that many Hamas militants are hiding there.
The brutal Israel Strikes on Gaza, the death toll and suffering has garnered a lot of support from the world with The ICC issuing arrest warrant against Netanyahu. Even the Western Countries like USA, the most trusted ally of Israel is rethinking it’s stance and offering help and aid for Gaza as student Protests rise there.
The situation is also affecting the other geopolitical relations of Israel, especially with Iran.
Many parties including Qatar have offered to mediate. Wars are not a solution and the tensions threaten Global Peace and Security, thus both parties should take up diplomatic ways to re-establish the peace.
