PM Narendra Modi to Proudly Release 17th Installment of PM-KISAN Scheme During Varanasi Visit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, on Tuesday, June 18, to release the 17th instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme. This initiative will benefit over 9.26 crore farmers with more than ₹20,000 crore in aid. The event will be attended by notable figures including Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Governor Anandiben Patel, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, and various state ministers.

Details of Narendra Modi’s Visit to Varanasi

Narendra Modi’s visit is expected to last approximately 4.5 hours. He will arrive at the Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport in Babatpur around 4 PM, proceeding to the PM Kisan Samman Sammelan by 5 PM. During this event, he will distribute funds from the PM-KISAN scheme to benefit 2,76,665 farmers in Kashi. Modi will also meet 21 farmers to review their agricultural produce.

In the evening, Narendra Modi will attend the Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat around 7 PM, followed by a visit to the Kashi Vishwanath Temple at 8 PM. According to Kashi Vishwanath Temple CEO Vishwa Bhushan Mishra, Modi is expected to stay at the temple for approximately 25 minutes.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare announced that over 2.5 crore farmers will participate in this event through various platforms, including 732 Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), 5 lakh Common Service Centres nationwide, and over 1 lakh Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies.

Special events are planned at 50 selected KVKs, where numerous farmers gather and Union Ministers interact with them. In the event, Farmers will learn about good farming practices, new agricultural technologies, and climate-resilient farming during these events. Additionally, they will receive guidance on checking their PM-KISAN beneficiary and payment status and using the Kisan-eMitra Chatbot. Union ministers will also distribute certificates to over 30,000 trained Krishi Sakhis, who will serve as para-extension workers.
